Remember this jet pack crash at last years Austrian GP?

The Red Bull Ring 🇦🇹:
4.318km / 71 laps / race lap record 1:05.619 (Carlos Sainz 2020)
The Red Bull Ring has the fewest number of corners on the F1 calendar with only 10 corners. The next fewest is Monza with 11.
Max Verstappen has the most F1 wins in Austria with 4.
The only Austrias driver to win at the Austrian GP was Niki Lauda in 1984.
The 2016 Austrian GP saw teammates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg collide on the final lap as Lewis made a move to overtake Rosberg, who more or less tried to run Hamilton off the track. This resulted in Nico’s front wing being damaged which ultimately dropped him back to 4th.
We are back with another sprint weekend which means a different schedule: FP1 and Sprint Qualifying on the Friday, Saturday we have the Sprint race followed by regular Qualifying, and then the full race on Sunday.
There have been new gravel traps added to the last few turns in a hope to stop track limit violations. There has also been an addition of AI technology to help faster detect track limit violations at these turns.
News From the Week
Toto keeps stirring the pot about bringing Max over to Mercedes. Recently stating it is Max who makes the difference at Red Bull and it is him who is winning the races.
Max stated Thursday that he is locked into contract with Red Bull and is happy with his current situation. If Mercedes wants a chance at Max they will need to continue to improve to be on the same playing level so it isn’t a step backwards for Max.
Verstappen might be facing a upcoming 10 place grid penalty for a new power unit. Following an inspection to the PU from Honda after the Canada GP it looks increasingly more likely the championship leader will be forced to take a new engine.
In shocking news Lance Stroll has resigned with Aston Martin…
Pierre Gasly and Alpine have come to an agreement on a multi-year contract. We are still waiting to see who his teammate will be, along with a few other empty seats yet to be decided for next year.
We are going to be away for a couple of weeks, but we will be coming back with a deep dive on Flavio Briatore and his controversial history in F1 now that he is back in the paddock.
