The In Lap

If you had told me that the final stretch of races this season would feature six different winners in a row, I would have said you’re crazy. But here we are. This is the first time ever in F1 history that seven different drivers have won multiple races: Verstappen (8), Norris (3), Leclerc (3), Sainz (2), Piastri (2), Hamilton (2), and Russell (2).

If next season continues the way this one has, we might be in for one of the hardest-fought championship battles ever. Imagine each weekend, from the start of the season, four teams showing up with a genuine chance to win or rack up big points.

Max didn’t waste any time celebrating his fourth Drivers' Championship! When asked what he was drinking, he said a gin and tonic, and he was doing interviews with a Heineken can in hand. At least it's on-brand and partnership-approved.

The talk in the paddock and the media is that this is Verstappen’s hardest championship win yet. It can be argued that, for most of the year, Red Bull didn’t have the fastest car—a fact Max made clear when he let McLaren team boss Zak Brown know, post-race. Max built the buffer he needed at the start of the season, and as other teams improved their performance throughout the year, we saw the Red Bull start to struggle more and more for pace, especially with Perez’s performance. Still, Max was able to scratch and claw his way to steady points finishes, maintaining his lead in the championship race.

We also have to give a shoutout to George Russell, who has been quietly impressive all year long. He consistently puts himself in a strong position thanks to his excellent qualifying performances, and if it weren’t for a post-race disqualification in Belgium, he’d have three wins this season compared to his teammate’s one.

“Mr. Saturday,” as he was known during his time at Williams, has proven his consistency, and this season, he’s outshined Hamilton in this regard. Hamilton has admitted to struggling with his qualifying pace, and we’re excited to see if Lewis can get a boost in motivation and performance next season, especially with Ferrari potentially in the mix.

Also, did anyone else notice that Sainz drove straight across the pit lane line while battling with Hamilton, and there was no penalty—or even an investigation—into it?

The sphere right after Perez was knocked out in Q1 😬

Sergio Perez finally had a positive moment and showed some fight when he managed to pull off two overtakes in one corner, passing both Liam Lawson and Kevin Magnussen. We think he’ll need a few more positive moments in these last two races if he wants to keep his seat. Helmut Marko has stated that they will decide on the future of Perez’s seat at a shareholders meeting after the conclusion of the season in Abu Dhabi, once the leadership has had a chance to meet and discuss the future of the team.

Yuki Tsunoda has now finished ahead of Perez in the last two races, and even though Red Bull seemingly has no interest in promoting Yuki, at a certain point, something has to change. We will be looking forward to his test in the Red Bull car after Abu Dhabi.

There’s continued talk about Colapinto’s future, and after the crash he had in qualifying, you could see the disappointment in the Williams garage. There has been a lot of discussion about the team’s financial situation and their struggle to keep up with these accidents, as they don’t have enough spare parts.

You could definitely see the stress and disappointment on the faces of the mechanics and other team members in the garage.

Apparently, Williams had borrowed some spare parts from Aston Martin before the race weekend began, and ultimately had to use some of those parts to get Colapinto’s car ready for the race.

There’s also some turmoil in the Ferrari garage that was aired out for all of us to hear. We may never know all the details, but it’s clear that Leclerc and Sainz were either being given different race instructions or that Sainz decided to act against an established plan.

Leclerc was told that Carlos had been instructed not to overtake or cause stress to Leclerc’s race. Yet, according to the timing of the radio messages played on air, Sainz overtook Leclerc at the very next turn.

“Carlos has been told to not overtake but it is really close, you might be just in front. He has been told to not put you under pressure. So just take care of your tyres.”

As Sainz overtook Charles, he then sarcastically asked his race engineer: “Maybe try in Spanish.”

At the end of the race Charles had not cooled down, shooting off more to his engineer:

“Yeah, I did my job, but being nice f**** me over all the f****** time, all the f****** time.

“It’s not even being nice, it’s just being respectful. I know I need to shut up, but at one point it’s always the same, so...oh my f****** god.

Overheard in the Paddock

We are officially getting a 11th team on the grid for 2026, which means two more drivers! Well there has been a “agreement in principle”… same thing right?

This all was only announced this afternoon so while we don’t have a full breakdown or analysis we know that it will be a GM/Cadillac team and that Mario Andretti will be the team director.

We all have more questions than answers and can not wait to learn more about this team and what it’s effects down the grid will be.

Apparently, some American F1 fans were enjoying themselves around the track! Maybe the high cost of tickets and the steep prices for drinks left the fans short on cash, so they had to bring their own weed instead. Checo and Colapinto both commented on the smell of marijuana around the track, and Franco even joked that the drivers would probably test positive for the substance!

This year's title battle between Lando and Max had all of us wondering how their friendship would hold up now that they were competing against each other. With a fair bit of finger-pointing between the teams and some drama both on and off the track, I think it’s safe to say that emotions ran high between the drivers at multiple points this season.

he competitiveness and pride that F1 drivers show is among the highest in any sport, so it was nice to see Lando post a congratulatory and comedic photo with a caption for Max after the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

A Quick Look Ahead

We’ll be back in your inbox Thursday to get you all ready for the Qatar Grand Prix!

Even with Max clinching his 4th Drivers Championship, the Constructors Championship still has to be sorted out at the top of the standings but also for some mid field teams fighting for their prize money.
